Measuring water flowrate using clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters

Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeters

Faure Herman Ultraflux flow meters are capable of measuring the flow rate of water in pipes of diameter 6mm to 7500mm with up to 4 chords.

One of the challenges often faced with measuring the flow rate of water in pipes is the inaccuracy due to the lack of straight run available before a measurement needs to be taken.

Faure Herman has the capability to do computational fluid dynamics, given a pipe layout, to better estimate the flow profile in the pipe and compensate for it. This allows our clamp-on flowmeters to produce better accuracy.

Shown above is a 6 inch pipe that is of age. The task is to obtain a reading from the flowmeter for a difficult medium in the pipe that is dirty water with some sediments.

With some pipe preparation and the use of ultrasonic gel, we were able to obtain readings from our sensors showing a representative flow rate in the pipe.
