Combustion, Furnaces & Boilers
Electric Arc Furnace
Off-gas analysis, off-gas duct flow, cooling water protection, shell temperature and furnace viewing for electric arc furnaces and other melting furnaces.
Measures: Off-gas CO / O2 / H2O · Off-gas duct flow · Cooling water flow · Shell hot spots · Furnace viewing
Off-Gas Analysis
In-situ TDLAS analysers measure CO, O2 and water vapour in the off-gas duct in real time, with no sample line to clog in the dusty gas. The readings help control post-combustion and chemical energy input, and a rise in water vapour can point to a cooling water leak.
Off-Gas Duct Flow
Multipoint thermal mass flow meters measure the gas flow in large fume extraction ducts, downstream of the off-gas cooling where the gas is within the meter's temperature rating (about 450 °C).
Cooling Water Flow
Water-cooled panels, roof and electrodes depend on steady cooling water. Thermal and vane flow switches alarm on low or lost flow before the panels overheat.
FLT93 Thermal Dispersion SwitchFCI FLT93 heavy-duty thermal dispersion flow and level switch with no moving parts, for liquids, gases and interfaces in process plants.
Dwyer Series-V4 Flotect Flow Switches: Weatherproof, Explosion-Proof, Low Flow ProtectionDwyer V4 Flotect vane flow switch for pipes 1-1/2 in and up: weatherproof and explosion-proof, up to 5000 psig, for loss-of-flow protection in hazardous areas.
Shell & Equipment Temperature
Fixed thermal imagers watch the furnace shell and nearby equipment for hot spots, and portable pyrometers take spot readings.
LWIR 640AMETEK Land LWIR-640 thermal imaging camera measuring 0 to 1000 °C, with a built-in webserver and I/O to run on its own or connect to plant control systems.
Cyclops LAMETEK Land Cyclops L portable, one-handed non-contact pyrometer for spot temperature readings and checking fixed pyrometers, with trigger-controlled data logging.
Furnace Viewing
High-temperature cameras give operators a safe, live view inside melting furnaces and chambers.
