Faure Herman's Double Case positive displacement (PD) flowmeters come from its Petrol range. Two rotors turn inside a measuring chamber and pass a fixed volume of liquid with each turn, which the counter adds up. The rotors never touch each other or the chamber: timing gears outside the chamber keep them in step, so they don't wear and the meter doesn't drift out of calibration. A magnetic coupling carries the rotation to the counter, so there is no shaft seal to leak.
The double case means the measuring unit sits inside a separate outer housing. It can be taken out, serviced and checked without removing the meter from the line. PD meters measure accurately on viscous products, and Faure Herman recommends this one for crude oil custody transfer. With a mechanical counter it needs no power supply at all.
