The LaserGas™ Q ICL is NEO Monitors’ in-situ laser gas analyser for the mid-infrared. It measures across the stack or duct from two flanges, so there is no sample to extract, cool or filter. Working in the mid-infrared gives it lower detection limits than near-infrared lasers for gases such as NO, NO₂ and SO₂.
Key specifications
- Gases: NO, NO₂, SO₂, HBr and formaldehyde (CH₂O)
- Response time down to 1 second
- Measures the average concentration across the whole stack or duct diameter
- Suits very high dust loads; a continuous purge keeps the optical windows clear
- No zero drift and stable calibration; no interference from background gases
- Flange mounting with an alignment mechanism
- Hazardous areas: IECEx/ATEX/UKEx Zone 2; CSA Class I Div 2 Groups A, B, C, D
Where it’s used
NEO lists combustion processes, DeNOx, sulphur recovery units, sulphuric acid regeneration and continuous emissions monitoring (CEMS). In a sulphur recovery unit, NEO pairs it with the LaserGas™ III: the LaserGas Q measures SO₂ and the LaserGas III SP measures H₂S in the tail gas, so the air demand can be trimmed to hold the H₂S:SO₂ ratio near 2:1. The two can share one pair of nozzles through a T-flange (how it’s installed). It is also placed on steam and power boilers for DeNOx and emissions measurement.
