Gas Processing & Chemicals
Sulphur Recovery Unit
Reaction furnace temperature, burner ignition and flame proving, air and acid gas flow, and gas analysis in the Claus sulphur recovery unit.
Measures: Reaction furnace temperature · Burner ignition · Flame monitoring · Air & acid gas flow · Gas analysis
Reaction Furnace Temperature
The Claus reaction furnace runs well above 1000 °C, where thermocouples have a short life. Portable infrared pyrometers check the refractory temperature through the sight ports, without contact.
Burner Ignition & Flame Monitoring
High energy igniters and gas pilots light the reaction furnace and incinerator burners, and flame controllers prove the flame to the burner management system.
XEC 18-H Standard High Energy Power Unit18 J high energy ignition power unit for gas and light oil burners in boilers, furnaces and gas turbines, in safe-area or ATEX enclosures.
TP Series Gas Pilot Torches (TP15 – TP76)Gas pilot burners from 2 kW to 600 kW with high voltage or high energy ignition and optional ionisation flame detection; lengths made to order.
High Energy Ignition Spark Rods & Replaceable TipsIgnition rods in 12, 14 and 17 mm diameters with screw-on, self-cleaning spark tips (HERC17, HEM17, HEM14) rated to 760–1000 °C; safe-area or Ex d.
Compact Flame ControllersBFI compact flame controllers that combine flame detection and evaluation in one unit and tell their own burner's flame from neighbouring burners.
Flame Monitoring Fibre Optic CablesBFI glass fibre-optic cables that carry flame radiation to a flame scanner or controller, for hot (up to 600 °C) or high-vibration mounting points.
Combustion Air & Acid Gas Flow
The air to acid gas ratio decides how much sulphur is recovered. Thermal mass flow meters measure the air, acid gas and fuel gas flows to the burner.
ST80 Flow MeterFCI ST80 thermal mass flow meter for industrial air and gas, with a wide choice of sensors (including wet gas) and process connections.
MT100 Flow MeterFCI MT100 multipoint insertion thermal flow meter with up to eight sensing points, for air and gas flow in stacks, flues and large ducts with short straight runs.
Gas Analysis
Gas analysers measure H2S and other components in the feed and tail gas, so the air demand can be kept on target and emissions stay within limits.
